Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, United/Optum, Medicare, and Tricare.

Is therapy really confidential? Can I tell you anything?

Yes. It all remains confidential. Your information is kept strictly private and will not be shared without your written permission. The only information we are obligated to report is suspicion of child or elder abuse or if we feel you or someone else’s safety is in jeopardy.

How does it work?

Call or email to let us know you are interested in making contact, or schedule a free consultation. Next, we will call you at a convenient time to understand what you are looking for in therapy and to discuss financial/insurance information. This is typically a 10 minute phone call. When you would like to move forward, you can schedule your free appointment. You’ll get a follow up email from us asking you to complete some paperwork online before the appointment.

What happens during the first session?

The free consultation is about gathering history and getting to know one another to determine if you and your therapist are a good fit. The best determination of success in therapy isn’t necessarily the therapist’s skills, but the relationship you have with your therapist.

What is teletherapy?

Through audio and video over the internet, you can meet with your therapist on-the-go from your desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile device. Teletherapy allows you to connect anywhere with secure and convenient appointments that save you time and hassle.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. We are happy to refer you to a psychiatrist or your primary care physician to assist you with medication. With your written permission, we can communicate with your prescribing physician to collaborate on your mental health care.

How often will we meet, and how long do sessions last?

Sessions typically last 45-50 minutes. How often you meet is a decision that you and your therapist agree upon together, based on your time, schedule, and desire. Typically most clients start with weekly sessions in the beginning, then move to whatever pace feels good for them.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you may be charged for the full rate of the session.

Can I meet my therapist in an office?

Yes. Interlude Wellness has an office in Downers Grove.
