Interlude Wellness is proud to offer online therapy and supervision for clients across the state of Illinois, and psychoanalysis for clients across the globe.

Due to the crisis created by COVID-19, many of us found new ways of working and learning. At Interlude, we saw our clients benefit from the ability to integrate our services more easily into their busy lives.

If you are ready to meet our clinicians online, contact us today for a free consultation.

What is online therapy?

Online therapy is also called virtual therapy, e-therapy, teletherapy, or telepsychology.  The service of remote therapy is just one category under the umbrella of telehealth services, such as telemedicine and telepsychiatry.  Therapists are able to provide individual, couples, and even group therapy over the internet, which means we can provide clients with easy, safe access to psychotherapy services.

Online therapy is just like in-person therapy.  You have a safe, confidential space to be heard and understood, and the opportunity to unlock critical personal insights. The only difference between online therapy and in-person therapy is that instead of meeting in an office together, you meet with your therapist via video chat (or over the phone, if needed).

How does online therapy work?

Interlude Wellness uses a confidential, secure, HIPAA compliant platform through Simple Practice for all our video chat sessions. Our online counseling sessions are easy to set up and scheduled for your convenience.  You can meet with your therapist any time during our usual hours and in the comfort of your home or office.

You will need to have a serviceable internet connection, along with a smartphone or computer with a webcam, in order to do a video chat session through Simple Practice.

After you sign up, you will receive a link via email or text directing you to the video session.  Click that link a few minutes before your appointment begins, and you and your therapist will be connected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does insurance cover online therapy?

Governor Pritzker of Illinois signed an executive order declaring teletherapy services would be “fully reimbursed by insurers,” “just as if the patient had come into the doctor’s office.”  Once the national crisis has ended, some insurances will continue to cover teletherapy, while others may not.  Please contact your insurance provider if you have questions or concerns regarding your coverage.

What if I don’t have access to the internet?

No problem.  You and your therapist can talk over the phone instead.

Do you offer teletherapy for couples or romantic partners?

Yes. Our couples therapists will work with you and your partner.

What if I’m nervous or uncomfortable with being on video?

It’s completely normal to feel awkward or anxious the first time you try teletherapy. That feeling usually goes away after the first session.

What if I have technical issues before or during the session?

Contact us by phone or email as soon as you notice something isn’t working. We’re here to help.  If your session is disrupted or impossible because of technical issues, contact us to discuss a refund.
